I just finished watching the Frontline on for-profit colleges, and I understand now why the stocks of those places all dropped today. I had no idea that tuition at places like the University of Phoenix are three to four times more expensive than state colleges. I also had no idea that they were marketed like credit cards.
It also made it clear to me why state-run online colleges are such a stupid idea. Since they can’t charge more than their on-campus programs, so they can never make up their high start up costs.
If this is the future, I’m moving to Australia.
